DigitalMistress wanted more than a chatbot: a companion that remembers the user, adapts over time and feels present, including live voice conversation. As an adults-only subscription product, it also had to clear the hard parts that app stores check closely: age verification, consent, content moderation, account deletion and in-app billing.

Treat the relationship as the product. Every flow, from creating the companion to the first voice call, was designed as a step in a relationship that unlocks over time, while compliance and billing were built as first-class systems instead of afterthoughts.

A Flutter app for iOS and Android. An eight-step guided setup lets users shape their companion (appearance, personality traits and a generated voice) and refine it later. Chat runs over WebSockets with a human pacing engine, media messages, swipe-to-reply and message reports. Voice calls are speech-to-speech on Hume EVI: raw PCM audio streamed over a binary WebSocket, interruption handling, a live waveform, speaker routing and a call summary in the chat, with call time metered by a quota. Billing combines RevenueCat subscriptions and voice-time packs in the app with Stripe on the web, plus creator-code discounts and paused or suspended membership states. Compliance covers age verification (Apple Declared Age Range, Google Play Age Signals and a Didit fallback), a consent ledger and AI disclosure, image screening before upload, and full account deletion. Push notifications use a custom iOS notification extension, and Sentry tracks errors in production.

DigitalMistress is live on the App Store and Google Play, with text chat, real-time voice calls and subscriptions working end to end, and the compliance pieces the stores require for an adults-only app in place.
